Advancing Safety in Environmental Journalism for a Better Future

The ninth annual conference on the safety of journalists at OsloMet is a two-day intensive of workshops, paper presentations, keynote speakers, film, and networking opportunities. Each year, we gather an international cohort of high-profile practitioners and researchers to talk about the issues that matter most in journalist safety.
How we can we reduce the physical and mental risks to the journalists?

This year, the conference is titled, "A Call to Action: Advancing safety in environmental journalism for a better future".
We're asking how we can we reduce the physical and mental risks to the journalists who do this important work. We are honoured to host keynote speakers Eric Freedman (Knight centre for journalism, Michigan state university) and Dora Muñoz, a communicator for the Nasa people of Colombia. Freedman will discuss his findings on why climate journalism is the most dangerous beat for journalists; Muños will discuss the environmental degradation that has led her people to seek international attention and the risks that accompany it.
