How storytelling can strengthen freedom of information and build community.
In this lecture, Sam Helmick, President of the American Library Association, reflects on freedom of information and community building through storytelling-based advocacy. Drawing on the online platform Our Stories Are Worth Sharing (samforlibraries.com), they explore how libraries create spaces where people can share their own stories, meet one another with curiosity, and build connections across differences.

Based on experiences from library communities in the United States, the lecture demonstrates how storytelling can be a powerful way to foster access, belonging, and public trust.
